about

Skudge records continue their steady stream of mutant techno/house releases with a strong new EP from Rivet. On the A-side, ‘Driftwood’ combines a muscly jack with slap bass throbs, a memorably clunky house piano, and a nasal garage vocal to produce an effective hybrid of multiple strains of dance culture. EP closer ‘Line Of Moments’ reshapes Rivet’s core elements into a more luxurious slow burner, but ‘Crane Dance’ is undoubtedly the highlight, where the snarling vocals of the A-side get trapped in a nagging and incessant loop.
